What to Bring to Your Day-After or Adventure Bridal Session

Adventure bridal sessions or day after sessions are such a fun way to extend the celebration beyond your wedding day. Whether it’s hiking to a stunning mountain overlook or exploring a waterfall, the right prep makes all the difference. Here’s a complete list of what to bring so you can stay comfortable and make the most of your photos:

1. Dress in Layers

Wear a base layer like leggings, bike shorts, or thermals so you can easily slip your dress over when it’s photo time. This also helps keep you warm in cooler temps.

2. Hiking Boots First, Wedding Shoes Later

Good footwear is a must. Wear hiking boots or trail shoes on the way up, then change into your wedding shoes at the top if you’d like. Pack them in your backpack so they stay clean.

3. Bring Wedding Details

Think bouquet (or a smaller adventure-friendly version), vow books, rings, heirloom jewelry, or even a veil if you want some romantic wind-blown shots. Small details add personality to your adventure photos.

4. Groom’s Outfit Hack

Grooms can usually hike in suit pants and jacket, but I recommend carrying the shirt and tie in a garment bag or backpack. That way you’ll avoid sweat and wrinkles, and it’ll look fresh once you’re dressed at the photo spot.

Bring plenty of water, easy-to-carry snacks (granola bars, trail mix, fruit), and maybe even a thermos of coffee or champagne for a celebratory toast.

Pack sunscreen, bug spray, tissues, and a small first-aid kit (blister bandages are lifesavers on longer hikes). Headlamps or a flashlight are smart if you’ll be hiking at sunrise or sunset.
